Work continued to be done...

mr meade has now scanned my comic on the pc and i will therefore be able to paint and edit my drawings. Some of my scanned artwork is filled with 50% white in photoshop to knock back the pencil lines.
However i am having difficulties in deciding what drawing should be my front cover and the back cover.
I have decided to name my comic called "Candy Girl" and because of this i have come to a decidison to have chii as the character to be in ym front cover as i have drawn her in a dominant way.

Photoshop ADOBE with Alex

My time working with alex learning how to use photoshop has gradually improved leartning the techniques and tools of it all. I have done all my drawings and alex has helped me scanned it on to the computer and so i can edit them on photoshop. At first i had to use tools such as rubber to clean up my comic and drawings as it turnt out quite dark on the computer which took a long period of time and now i am in the process of colouring my comic.
I also need to decide how focused my drawings are going to be printed out and the thickness of my outlines on the drawing

RESEARCH ON HOW NOT ALL MANGA IS MAGICAL.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Romantic_comedy_anime_and_manga
because i am changing the plot of my story i was concerned because a few people had suggested it wouldnt be "Magical" and the whole point of manga/anime is for it to be magical which persoanlly IS NOT TRUE..

A HIT COMIC CALLED " HIGH SCHOOL DEBUT "
PLOT : Haruna Nagashima gave her all to softball in middle school, now that she has made her high school debut, she has decided to give her all for a new goal: getting a boyfriend and falling in love. However, she has one small problem—since she never paid any attention to fashion or trends in middle school, she has no idea how to go about attracting her yet-to-be-found love. But a chance encounter with Yoh Komiyama provides her with the opportunity she needs. If he coaches her in how to become attractive, surely she can find herself a boyfriend.

Yoh then agrees to coach Haruna, after her great persistence. But he tells her she mustn't fall in love with him. And that is exactly what happens. The story from then follows Haruna as she debates whether she should confess to Yoh, or keep her secret to herself.

"FALL IN LOVE LIKE A COMIC"
PLOT: The story centers around the relationship between Rena and Tomoya. Rena is your not-so typical high school student due to the fact that she is also a popular mangaka (manga artist), whom while drawing love scenes, bumps into also popular Tomoya. She quickly runs away from him but forgets her draft in the process. But when her publisher mentions that she doesn't put enough feeling into her works, she decides that she wants to improve her mangaka career by getting some hands-on experience in love.

perhaps people have been watching too many of "SPIRITED AWAY" so have putted the idea that manga/anime is all about magical happenings which obviosuly isnt true...
and therefore seee that plots that isnt so magical isnt unlikely to be successfuL and classify as MANGA.

Spirited away is a 2001 film by the japanese anime studio "Studio Ghibli" written and directed by Hayao Mayazaki. This film recieved many awards, including the second Oscar ever awarded for Best Animated Feature, the first anime film to win an Academy Award, and the only winner of that award to be traditionally animated or win among five nominees. The film also won the Golden Bear at the 2002 Berlin International Film Festival

http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/2003/may/21/artsfeatures.cannes2003 discusses how Manga and Anime are growing in popularity in Western cultures partly due to the fact that artists like Daft Punk feature manga imagery in their videos. This increasing popularity shows there could be a market for my comic.

To a point, manga is also used in "The Animatrix" cartoons.

Manga has become a form of popular culture having a big economic influence
through secondary use, or character merchandising in toys,
food, and advertising.
An example of this is http://www.mangalife.com/news/MangaHeadbyGarnierFructis.htm where adverts such as garnier frutis have introduced the manga style to men as this inspiration has grown from manga comics.

Audience Research

The majority of the particpants occupation were students and 2 of them were workers.
I also asked them what genre of comic they favoured the most giving them several options between romance, adventure/action, superheroes, fantasy and crime/detective. The most favoured was romance and the least was crime/detective. Majority of girls had chosen romance. I therefore will base my comic genre as romance.
i asked my paticipants what other selction of comics did they flavour and 50% of them suggested beano, 19% of them said simpson,25% of them said marvel whilst the other 6% said DC comics.
This pie chart show the portion of people who enjoy reading comics and having a twist in their comic reading, people who prefer speechbubbles to a more picture telling story and finally others who prefer a picture telling story rather than speechbubbles.
Most people prefered speechbubbles so on this point i will consider to contain more speechbubbles instead in my comic.
This bar graph shows the difference between males and females who took part of the survey, the majority of them was female.

This pie chart displays the portion of ages who took my part in my survey, the majority of the age was 15-16 years old.

Plans =)

I have decided that i am going to choose to do a japanese cult/manga comic production. The comic strip is going to be a romance genre based on a love story between two people. It is aimed at teenagers from the age of 14-18 to both males and females.
I have looked at a comic called *Chobits* which is quite an inspiring love story, which has given me an idea on what my plot will be in my comic.
In my production i will be including many of my own drawings and i will do a profile drawing for my main characters.
My plot is based on one female called Chii and a male called Zak who strangely fall in love but both are from different worlds of good and evil and because of this they are destined not to be together.
In my comic strip i will include different types of shots such as Close up shots, Points of view shots, mid shot and extreme close up shots to create a more realistic and more effective story telling.
